I wrote about progress and its link to happiness in previous post. Since it is progress that actually makes us happy, how do we keep progress?

We are all wired differently so the methods/ ways to keep progress daily might vary but one common thing we all need to do is to train our minds. In a similar way to feed our bodies, we need to feed our minds and we need to do it daily to keep the progress. Like what we eat matters, what we consume from outside world matters too. And there is too much information. News are not to inform us anymore, instead they are to startle us, to get our attention. We are drowning in information. Therefore it is important to choose the correct sources.

I attended a Tony Robbins training last year on how to keep the momentum. He suggests five key steps to keep the progress or to get back on track for those who lost the momentum.

The first one is:

FEED YOUR MIND DAILY.

To do that read or listen to a book 30 mins a day.

He says:

“Jim Rohn, one of my teachers, told me that reading something of substance, something of value, something that was nourishing, something that taught you distinctions, was more important than eating. ‘Miss a meal,’ he said, ‘but don’t miss your reading.’”

Read something of value and substance, something nourishing that will strengthen you mentally, physically and spiritually every day for 30 minutes. Read (or listen to) and apply as you read.

Other ways to feed your mind:

- Meditate 10 minutes every morning

- Listen to an empowering podcast on your commute

- Watch an inspiring YouTube clip

- Watch an enlightening documentary

- Ask yourself questions everyday

- Try something new

- Spend time with like minded people

- Write three things you are grateful of every evening

- Write three things that you want to accomplish the next day

Stay in control of your mind. Do not feed it with junk.

I will be writing on the other steps to keep progress in coming posts.
