Find Role Models

The third way to keep your progress towards achieving a goal is to find role models (see my previous two posts for the other ways).

Find people that have been where you want to be and study what they are doing. Study their thought patterns, the way they make decisions, the way they invest in themselves.

"If you want to be successful find someone who has achieved the results you want and model what they do and you will achieve the same results” says Tony Robbins.

I agree on the benefits of modelling what someone successful has already done but the most important thing while looking for a role model is perhaps to share same or similar core values with them. You might want to be financially free for instance but you might not be able to do it by slaving others with long hours of work and little pay like many billionaires in our times do.

Having a mentor with similar values to yours is invaluable. Learning from someone else’s experiences can get you to your goal faster. Though what still matters the most is not just getting a goal but the quality of life you experience along the way. So enjoy both the ease and challenges. In coming posts I will be writing on two other steps to keep progress: Take action and give.
